I am a very big gemstone/mineral collector hobbyist, so imagine my excitement when these two minerals were announced. In real life, both cinnabar and sulfur have distinct crystal variants that have heavy aesthetic and utility properties, such as: gunpowder, heavy metal refinery, blast-resistant sulfur concrete (could be used as a cheap obsidian alternative), dye, and specimen collecting (if the crystal is of desirable quality). The crystals themselves could grow on special variant blocks (similar to budding amethyst blocks). The biome itself revealed in the live announcement seemed lackluster, and some changes are likely necessary moving forward, which is why it would be a great biome to increase the bandwidth of Minecraft’s true crystal variety beyond just amethyst.
