Great idea! Let me add to it though. During the day you can't see sulfur flames. So this could be a cool dark area only flame. Kinda like a new way to determine if mobs could spawn. Only thing is it should emit a nausea effect (at least) within a small range. This would apply to torches and campfires, but not lantern because they are encased (unless that's not how that works, in which case I'm stupid and it applies to lanterns too.)

    ABSOLUTELY we need this.
And iron lanterns/copper lanterns should be updated to fit any kind of torch light inside them.

for sure purple-ish flame set would be cool, would be even fitting with recent additions of more flame colors, this should, of course, apply on torch, campfire, lanterns as well as fire on sulfur block keeping its color

Adding on to what someone else said, the flames could be close to transparent, with only a slight indigo tint at higher light levels (but not entirely invisible). The flames could also be incredible effective at killing sulfur cubes, which would be helpful in minigames where the cubes have to quickly disappear from view, especially since the flames would be hard to spot

Copper would be really cool as the intended item for crafting the lanterns. I read when copper and sulfur react to each other copper turns black and also turns it brittle but that means we should mine it faster than other lanterns or punch it to pick up. Normal lanterns are a dark gray but I think the black would stand out if the purple isn't enough.

purple flame block (on sulfur block) and purple sulfur campfire, could also have additional effect when burning, soul fire has higher damage, sulfur fire could burn and also give player poison, nausea or other negative effects

Yes, this is a great idea!! I also have a suggestion (I can't post this into a separate thing so im adding it to this because my idea also have this new flame color ^^)

There could be another way to expand on the TNT functionality for the sulfur cube. maybe to add optional upgrades to control when the explosion happens. For example you could use magma cream to enable an “impact mode” which would make it explode on impact (player hit, collide with an entity or any surface of a block). Then, instead of always exploding on the first hit, there can be a new item: sulfur cube goo (dropped from baby variants)

Each goo adds a sort of charge (extra bounce before exploding) so:

    • No goo means it explodes on first impact
    • each goo added means it will explodes after multiple impacts instead (impact numbers = how many goos you add)

This makes amkes players able to scale it up for more control in contraptions or minigames :D The goo could also have extra uses

    • crafting 1 goo + 1 gunpowder gives you 2 sulfur dust
    • sulfur dust could
      • Slightly increase explosion size when applied to sulfur cube TNT (would also work without impact mode)
      • be used to craft stronger “sulfur TNT” for clearing larger areas (can potentially be used in the sulfur cube as well, but not able to use the dust inside it ofc, or maybe?)
      • maybe add new colored flame variants (torches, lanterns, campfires), similar to how some materials affect fire color like copper! (like you have already mentioned!!)
