Dear Minecraft Team,
I would like to propose a new concept for the future of Minecraft:
a fully spherical world system that allows players to explore and build on entire planets.
Current Minecraft worlds are infinite planes, which makes them fun and vast, but also introduces several structural limitations:
- Real-world geography cannot be accurately represented due to map distortion.
- Height limits make it difficult to recreate mountainous regions.
- The world has no natural looping, so global-scale exploration feels abstract.
- Recreating Earth or other planets becomes inherently inaccurate.
A spherical world would solve these issues and open new creative possibilities:
- Accurate representation of Earth using real elevation data.
- Natural looping in all directions, allowing players to walk around a planet.
- New gameplay such as digging tunnels through the planet, exploring planetary cores, or building on the Moon or Mars.
- Players could choose different planet sizes, from small moons to Earth-sized worlds.
This would not replace the current Minecraft, but could become a new mode or a new edition—an evolution of the sandbox experience.
I believe this concept aligns with Minecraft’s spirit of exploration and creativity, and could inspire a new generation of players.
Thank you for considering this idea.
