One of the biggest curses that haunts minecraft nowadays in my opinion is the fact that most of the new stuff that comes in has a singular or decorative(world enriching?) use.
Most players barely interact with the newer passive/neutral mobs,(eg: turtles, pandas, icebears, sniffer, allays, frogs, armadillo etc) unless they have some really niche goals or specific purposes, they don't do interact that much with the enviroment, don't give much purpose to players aside from maybe a singular one.
Minecraft is about creativity and the block variety surely enhances that, but I think the ratio of interactable blocks to decorative blocks decreases exponentially with each update. I don't just want to build, I want things that I can do things and stuff with, that has secondary, god forbid even more purposes. Blocks that interact with the enviroment, with mobs, with players are really little. (water, lava, soulsand, magma block, fire, cacti, redstone stuff, crafting stations, chest etc.) A moving, living world requires more encrichment that looks.
As for most newer material items, most of them have only a specific crafting recipe or two.
Food items have so much potential with a cooking system.
Also some items lack a wider purpose (echo shard, shulker shell(could be an upgrade to dog armor), prismarine items, just to name a few).
So my suggestion, is an update, where purposes, meaning, uses, life are sewn into minecraft, giving everything two or three more attribute, use, crafting recipes.
