The 26.2 "Chaos Cubed" reveal was a massive W, and the Sulfur Slime is easily one of the most unique mobs we’ve seen in years. But looking at the Sulfur Springs, it feels like we’re seeing the "effect" without the "cause."
To really make this update legendary, we need a dedicated home for these features: The Volcanic Highlands.
Instead of the Sulfur Springs just being random pockets in the world, they should generate at the base of these massive, jagged mountain ranges. Think Basalt, Cinnabar, and Ash everywhere. It shouldn't just be a mountain—it should be a survival challenge that justifies why the sulfur is there in the first place
With the Vulkan/Vibrant Visuals update officially coming, Mojang finally has the horsepower to do this right.
Imagine a thick ash-cloud effect that dynamically reacts to the new lighting engine.
Using the new particle system to have Heat Vents that actually look like they’re shimmering. This is the perfect biome to show off what the new engine can actually do beyond just prettier water
Right now, the Sulfur Slimes feel a bit floaty. In the Highlands, they could actually have a purpose:
Make them more common the higher you go
Verticality: Scaling these peaks should be the final exam or the new Sticky Powder and Sulfur Gel mechanics. If you want the best Cinnabar or high-purity Sulfur Ore, you have to earn it by climbing a literal volcano.
Sulfur is cool, but Volcanic Highlands would make it a core part of the Minecraft experience.
