I had the same idea (about redstone), and yeah, it would be cool. However, it would be nicer if it didn't have to be above a « line of redstone », but simply above any (redstone) block. It would be soft-powering it though, because the block of redstone provides "weak" power (https://minecraft.wiki/w/Block_of_Redstone#Redstone_component).

    Why, when pressure plates exist?

Can't wait for my goofy-ah server mates to launch Redstone activating blocks into my complex wiring to bounce all around it

Like when absorbed anything that can be activated would be activated by Sulphur cube after absorbing Redstone block

idea is great for sure, similar concept as "redstone bug" from that one april fools update, as practicality, of course it would have some, yes, pressure plates and other "entity detectors" exist but they cant be used as easily or well everywhere, imagine if you put sulfur cube with redstone block inside into minecart, it could activate things right next to rails, like some dynamic smooth light stripe or some "screens" and whatever more redstoners can come up with
only issue I imagine is lag, not sure how lag-heavy are redstone things in general, but entity that would always make redstone components check for it or rather it changing "redstone power" of all surrounding blocks as it moves sounds like something that may lag stuff a lot relatively easily, but I am no programmer so it is really just my guess
however idea is great and I see some potential uses those could benefit from it

I was thinking that maybe it could be given a redstone dust and colorise in red the top layer of the Sulfur Cube itself to show it's activated instead of absorbing the block. Like that the Sulfur Cube could keep the physics properties of the block it absorb for more control over it & more interaction in contraptions and mini games with a little bit of redstone (e.g point counter) + the texture could be bright or not and be more visible than within the Sulfur Cube (e.g blocked between blocks) + it would be something separate in the code so it could have an option to disable it in multiplayer servers for those afraid of griefing.
