Currently, the Enchanting Table relies heavily on luck. Even at level 30 with max bookshelves, getting the enchantment you want is a gamble. My suggestion is to introduce an "Enchantment Proficiency" hidden skill (or visible in the statistics/UI).
How it works: The more a player enchants items or extracts enchantments from books, the higher their Proficiency Level becomes. As this level increases, the player gains access to "lock in" or guarantee enchantments based on their code weight/rarity.
-
Beginner Proficiency: After a few enchantments, the player can guarantee or heavily increase the odds of seeing Weight 10 enchantments (Common - e.g., Sharpness, Protection, Efficiency) in the table slots.
-
Apprentice Proficiency: Unlocks access to Weight 5 enchantments (Uncommon - e.g., Feather Falling, Bane of Arthropods).
-
Advanced Proficiency: Unlocks access to Weight 2 enchantments (Rare - e.g., Silk Touch, Channeling).
-
Master Proficiency: Unlocks access to Weight 1 enchantments (Very Rare - e.g., Infinity, Mending - if applicable to the table).
Why should we add this? This doesn't make the game easier right away, as it requires grinding and spending XP/Lapis early on. However, it rewards long-term players by making the late-game enchanting process less frustrating and more strategic, adding a light and rewarding RPG element to the vanilla experience.
