This may not be a new idea, but essentially we get a new workbench for all wood types that behaves like the stonecutter, being able to spend 1 wood block on any variation of it within its own type, letting you create seats, carpeted stairs and slabs, carved wood logs that each boast a unique design like chiseled stone blocks which would be inspired by the biomes they’re found in. This also adds a new trade for villagers to obtain called The Carpenter, letting you trade for specialized blocks and axes and a new unique tool called the Whittling Knife. The knife can be crafted from an iron nugget and a stick, which would function like an axe to a wood log, but instead of stripping the wood it’ll carve a pattern into the bark, and drop said bark which can be used along with resin clumps to create reinforced shields, making them more durable and let arrows stick to them while at the slight cost of speed when sprinting which would stack up the more arrows stuck to it. Reinforced shields would also be placable on fence posts to create barricades, which would also let players pick the arrows off of them. This would be part of an update titled The Wooden Wonders Update which would introduce a new tree type for the Badlands known as Petrified Trees, giving players petrified wood for decorations and other building styles, being a muted pale brown color and a more lifeless color than Pale Oak.
