Minecraft could use Island generations. Purposeful generation of islands, and related rock structures like arches and boulders.
Islands can come in various shapes and sizes. I suggest 2 or 3 seperate island types per climate. Warm, Temperate, Cold. Be it rocky landmasses, sandy beaches or tropical forests, it would bring life and add new possibilities to the gameplay sandbox. An island should consist of a few sub-biomes. The coastal water (the underwater biome surrounding the island), the beach, and the inland. Perhaps unique cave biomes can generate beneath the island as well.
Rock arches, or large boulders could be used not just on the coast of islands but on land as well. Small sub-island or islands chains would be a cool addition.
It would be nice to recieve a unique ocean trench biome which would sometimes generate off the coast of an island. Additionally, underwater caves or aquifier caves could host new life. As it stands aquifiers are underwhelming.
