Hello Mojang team,
I love exploring Minecraft, but I’ve noticed a problem with maps on small islands.
In older versions, when you activated a map, your player was roughly in the center, making exploration maps intuitive and fun. Now, with level 2 and level 3 maps, even if I stand at the geometric center of my island:
-
My island appears off-center on the map.
-
The player marker is not in the middle and seems too big
-
Level 2 maps often cut off parts of the island, while level 3 maps make the island look tiny and leave a lot of empty space.
This makes map exploration frustrating and less enjoyable, especially on small islands, because the classic “stand in the middle → explore map” system no longer works.
Suggestion:
Please consider allowing maps on small islands to behave more like in older versions:
-
The player marker should appear closer to the center.
-
The island should fill the map area more appropriately, without being cut off or extremely zoomed out.
Thank you for considering this feedback! It would make exploring islands much more fun again.
P.S. I can live without this feature, but right now maps feel less useful for exploring, which was one of the most fun parts of Minecraft.
