Snakes have a bad reputation. They are feared by many people because they can be venomous. This fear makes people cause harm to these reptiles, killing innocent snakes whenever they see one. Even if they are venomous, they don't deserve to be killed just because of it. In fact, only about 7% of snake species are actually able to kill humans, leaving about 93% of harmless species.
Why I want them added to Minecraft, is because if they get added, many people will recognize them more and help clear this bad reputation. This has worked with other animals being recognized by getting added to minecraft, and even though those were endangered species without a bad reputation, this might work with snakes as well.
How they would work in game, is there would be multiple types of snakes, most being non-venomous and some being venomous. They will live in swamps, deserts, badlands (mesa), jungles, and warm/lukewarm oceans.
In the swamps - garter snake, cottonmouth (venomous), yellow anaconda, etc.
In the deserts and badlands - rattlesnake (venomous), hognose snake, bullsnake, etc.
in the jungles - boa constrictor, cobra (venomous), python, etc.
in the warm/lukewarm oceans - sea snake (venomous)
Venomous snakes will be neutral, dealing 2 hp of damage (1 heart), but you will get poison 2 and nausea. All snakes will drop nothing when killed.
Hopefully, this will help clear up the bad reputation snakes don't deserve, and let at least some people see them better than before.
