This new update has changed the ore density such that the best way to get ores is by looking around in caves. Simply mining is now a relatively ineffective strategy.
In my opinion this is a bad change for a couple of reasons:
I am running out of cobblestone and have to quarry it. Quarrying cobblestone is boring and takes forever. Additionally, with the new ore patterns there is almost no chance that you're going to find goodies along the way.
Now I'm spending a ton of time underground looking for diamonds in deepslate caves, which don't very often have diamonds and the travel time between caves is a long boring slog through slow-to-mine deepslate.
For these reasons I think that ore generation in deepslate ought to be ramped up a moderate amount.
Perhaps this could be done, not by increasing the spawn rates but by increasing the size of the ore deposits spawned in deepslate areas.
