Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Chainmail Armor Over Existing Armor

My idea is to make it possible to add chainmail armor on top off your armor, giving you the ability to get extra armor points without having a full set. The chainmail armor would have a second set of armor slots exclusively for the chainmail armor, and when you have a full set of chainmail armor on top of your normal set, it will be the equivalent of a diamond/netherite chestplate; however, you cannot surpass the amount of protection armor already gives you. This would be a solution to a problem that has been asked for for many years, which is a chestplate elytra. Instead of that, a full set of chainmail will equal the equivalent of one of those chestplates, and you will get that amount of protection without having a chestplate on over an elytra.

 

Chainmail should remain uncraftable and only found through mobs or chests.

    The historical fix for this would be chainmail *under* armor. Plate armor would be worn on top of a mail shirt and leggings to offer better protection in the areas that armor doesn't quite cover.

    It looks like the devs are leaning more towards the idea of having multiple sets of armor that you keep around for different tasks. Leather armor for trekking mountains, gold in the nether, etc, so the likelihood that they'd add the possibility to wear a chestplate and elytra without a datapack installed is very very slim.
