For something that requires almost half a stack of Iron Ingots to craft, it's really absurd that anvils losing durability is completely a factor of luck, so with bad enough luck, it's possible to have an anvil break after only 3 uses, and while that's some very low odds--about 0.17%, the fact that it can happen and there's nothing a player can do about it except waste another 31 ingots to make a new one afterwards is just really...gross, for lack of a better word
From what I've been reading up, the average amount of uses an anvil can last is 25, so just give anvils a specific durability value of that, or even lower it down to 20-15, given how powerful anvils are, as long as there's some actual consistency to anvils breaking instead of being at the mercy of pure chance
I'm sure some players would have a problem with having set durability instead of luck, as the 12% chance for the anvil to take damage means it's also possible to get lucky enough to plenty of mileage out of a single anvil, but given the amount of times I personally have had anvils go to the 2nd or even 3rd state absurdly fast, I'd much rather put a cap on getting ripped off with my Iron over getting lucky at having a long-lasting anvil
