Minecraft needs a progression update for tools and armor. This because there are six full sets of armor(Leather, Chain, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite) and only three of them are used in any complete playthrough(Iron, Diamond, Netherite). Because iron is better than leather and easier to craft, most players skip leather and go straight to iron as their first armor. (Chain is also skipped because it is also difficult to acquire). Gold is also skipped because gold armor is just as bad, if not worse than leather. Netherite is useful but very difficult to get, so it is sometimes skipped.
In terms of tools, them being: wooden, stone, iron, gold, diamond, and Netherite, suffers similarly to the armors. wooden tools are easily skipped due to the over abundance of stone. Gold has a faster mining speed but no one makes use of this trait because gold is hard to find early game and also low durability. That leaves stone as your first tools, iron as your midgame tools, and diamond and it's upgrades as your endgame tools.
I'd like to see leather, woooden tools, chainmail and gold items integrated into the survival gamemode.
