I am a java player. i'm fully aware of how an increased render distance would create more server lag on a minecraft realm. I also understand why the distance has been decreased in 1.18 seeing as the world is deeper and taller and Mojang is worried about performance on their premium service.
That being said, my friends and I have a realm on a superflat world and as of 1.18 many of our builds are unable to load completely in due to this change. On previous versions of the game they loaded completely and performance was never an issue. surely Mojang could get away with allowing a higher render distance when the world that is loaded is a superflat world. I genuinely hope they will consider this as we are all very happy with the service apart from this one issue. If this issue does not get addressed however, I fear we might end up needing to use a third party server hosting service that does allow for a higher render distance.
