I recently came across a YouTube video that pointed out how many features of Minecraft have no in-game tutorial for new players. The most obvious and egregious is opening a portal to the Nether. While ruined portals have done a lot to make that into a puzzle instead of downright impossible to figure out, it remains more difficult than it should be.
I propose a solution, by adding pre-written books with tutorials inside as a treasure item that can be obtained from certain overworld chests or from villager trading. They should be written as in-universe legends about certain game mechanics. These books could even have pictures inside to help dyslexic players. So far, I have found 6 game mechanics that would require such books: creating a Nether portal; traveling to the outer end and end cities; flying with elytra and rockets; re-summoning the end dragon; summoning the wither; and obtaining special drops like zombie heads and music disks from mobs.
All of these are mechanics that players are meant to take advantage of, not Easter Eggs, and yet all are difficult or impossible to figure out without outside/prior knowledge of the game. There may even be more mechanics that I have overlooked.
