Archeology sites, brushes, and clay pots were already going to be added into the game. Perhaps this theme of archeology could be expanded further. With dig sites dotted around desert biomes that unveil fossils, and ruins like those found in the enchanting table being dotted across structures already in the game.
Furthermore, an archeology update would be the perfect way to give copper a more pronounced practical use. With critical tools needed to engage with new mechanics requiring copper to be crafted. It would also allow dated structures like the desert and jungle pyramids to be updated to be larger in scale and higher in difficulty. Potentially by making them bigger so that more complex redstone traps could be added. Giving the player a unique experience when taking them on as they feel like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft when doing so.
Overall making archeology more fleshed out and expansive would be a real benefit. Allowing for a new kind of danger involved with structures beyond just fighting off new hostile enemies. Also giving the Minecraft world a more pronounced sense of wonder and intrigue as there is all this unknown history just waiting to be uncovered.
