Sometimes I feel that Minecraft's new updates are lacking in new mob mechanics. The Frog is the best we have seen so far (aside from the warden) and I think that Armadillo's could fit with the future desert update perfectly and here is why:
Reason 1. Armadillos feed on termites and could protect your house from them.
Reason 2. Armadillos can be added to the swamp, the savannah, and the desert giving it a wide variety of colors like the frog.
Reason 3. Armadillos can be given a rolling mechanic that makes them invulnerable to attacks as they roll 20 or so blocks.
Other Mechanics: You may be wondering what baskets have to do with armadillos and I think that a basket could be added with the armadillo. The basket would be able to hold a stack or two of fruit that when put in the off hand, keeps your hunger up automatically. The baskets main function however would be to carry Armadillos similar to fish buckets. When placed the armadillo would roll 20 or so blocks in the direction its placed. This could inspire players to get Armadillo friends to play golf or bowling with. If the Armadillo runs into a block when rolling away it would make a loud thud, bounce back a bit, and stay curled up until there are no entities near by making it the perfect distraction for the Warden. The Baskets wouldn't be limited to only Armadillos and fruit either. Baskets can pick up frogs, small slimes, and small magma cubes but only if its enchanted with fire protection, without it will break.
