I propose an update to the enchantment table which will make it reliable and more interesting. How it'll work is essentially become a store. It will have a similar menu but you use lapis to unlock enchantments rather than exp. The enchantment will be like a villager trade menu. However, you must discover the enchantments as they will first appear as "???". These ??? enchantments will all cost the same so player can't just guess which are the best enchantments based on the price. Then once you unlock it the book on top of the table will become enchanted with that enchantment. You can collect it and then you must replace it with another normal book. This revamp will also revamp the bookshelves. So when you surround the table with bookshelves. The prices of the enchantments will go down. Once you unlock all of the enchantments there will be a new item unlocked called the "enchanted book". You can use 3 enchanted books to make an enchanted bookshelf. These will decrease the prices by x amount. For example, with an enchantment table surrounded by normal bookshelves, mending may cost 15 lapis. But surrounded with enchanted bookshelves, it'll cost 5 lapis for a mending book. I think this is a good revamp which will replace villager enslavement for enchantments.
