Magic Fire (Purple) and Fire Staff to light up caves

The Fire Staff consumes a fire charge and fires a magic fire ball that ignites the surface that it touches, but this magic fire does not spread or burn any block, so it's safe for multiplayer. It can only be used to set mobs on fire, light up candles, TNTs and portals.

The most useful application for the Fire Staff is to light up massive caves from a safe distance to check for mobs and exposed ores, so it would be pretty useful for cave exploration. 

It would be equivalent to shooting a flaming arrow that actually function as a light source (feature present in many mods).

I thought the recipe for the Fire Staff could use two blaze rods and an amethyst crystal. It wouldn't be a broken item since it consumes fire charges.

The color of the fire could be purple and it would come with purple variations for torches, lanterns and campfires by using amethyst crystals in their recipes just like soul sand.
