The Movement Update

I've been noticing lately that Minecraft's mob animations have been getting smoother, more unique, and overall better, leaving the OG mob animations looking very dated and awkward by comparison. To resolve that, I propose the Movement Update - an update to bring the existing mob animations more in line with the newer mob animations. This would include:

  • Updated movement animations - everyone and their dog has requested the addition of crawling animations or climbing animations, but I think that the existing movement animations need some additional work before new animations would fit. The new walking animation would involve the leg moving up and forward before hitting the ground and then swinging back, and sprinting would look different from just walking at sprint speed (lean forward a tiny bit?) Zombies would be hunched over as if they were sneaking, while villagers would move as if interacting with their profession block and skeletons or pillagers would pull back their weapons the same way a player would.

    Also, spiders should be made to climb up walls vertically rather than the awkward horizontal position they currently use (which, if you ask me, looks less like them climbing and more like they are under the levitation effect)
