Gravel next to netherrack isn't very visually pleasing. Gravel is a pile of small, gray rocks, and being that it is in the nether, which has lots of red rocks, doesn't make logical sense for it to exist outside of basalt deltas. However, a way to get flint should be available in every biome. An ash block should be added to replace gravel in the nether, since there is a lot of lava, it makes more sense for it to exist. When mined, it has a chance to drop itself like gravel or it could drop flint, iron nuggets, gold nuggets, bones, and rarely even obsidian. If you use the brush on it that comes in the archaeology update, you have a higher chance of finding items, and even rare items that you wouldn't be able to get with a shovel.
