As a (monolingual) English speaker, "verdant", "ochre", and "pearlescent" are super pretty, but I don't think of colors when I hear them. I hadn't even heard of "ochre" previously. I think it makes more sense to name them after the common name of their colors for each language, or after the climate the frog that makes them spawns in.

When a frog eats a slime, it should drop an unlit froglight. And then you can craft a lit froglight using a magma cream. It gives an alternative, semi-automatic option for farming froglights and gives more pretty blocks for builders.

Some other interesting ideas to think about are

    • Giving the unlit froglight a light level of 7 (or another dim light level) to give players more control of light which allows for more moody builds since mobs only spawn at total darkness now
    • Froglights could stop slimes from spawning in slime chunks since light can't prevent slime infestations in big underground bases
    • Frogs could help find slime chunks since there is no official way to find them. You could let a bunch loose on the surface and they will converge at a slime chunk. Or you feed them something and they lead you to a slime chunk like dolphins do with buried treasure.

Please add a gigantic ridable frog that can eat mobs and spit them out again like yoshi from supermario

frog eggs should be 3d like turtle eggs or the dragon egg, they should be models that barely peek out of the water and occupy the water block instead of float over.

Frogs eating slimes more specifically magma cubes should have a drawn-out animation of them chewing the slime/magma before spitting out the drop, i find the way the froglights are now and how they just pop into existence right at the mouth of the frog to be unpolished

I do not like the idea of a frog in a bucket as the tadpoles already have that however i also feel there should be some way to get the new froglights without

    1. Killing all the brutes in a treasure bastion and disabling the magmacube spawner so you can make a farm around it.

    2. Warping to the nether roof to make a magma cube farm.

    or

    3. Spawnproofing a huge area to make a magma cube farm.

Of course i don't care if someone does these and i'm intrigued by the first myself but it will be painful for the average player to drag around a frog on a lead to find magma cubes. let them put the frog in a bucket, preferably dry, and just bring it out after dicing up larger magma cubes.

It would be good if frogs had a limit to eat, they are gluttonous in nature, they can even "eat" other frogs although obviously they cannot, so it would avoid only using a single frog to farm froglights (of course, having to go to the nether to decimate a bation to generate the farm of magma cubes) although it would be good that the frogs being mobs that feed themselves should have another mechanic or physical form when they are full, it would be interesting.

I don't know how to turn on that experimental feature. it is not listed under the experimental features.

While froglights are interesting I am disappointed the frog types are not really more unique. I was hoping each frog would produce a unique item with a unique function, not just a color variant of a new item. Another option would be to give unique behaviors to each frog like one can be frozen in a block of ice and thawed out, one has a frog song that attracts other frogs, or a frogs that eat other frogs. These seem like interesting mechanics that could have effects on how players use frogs in their worlds. I am holding onto the hope that frog mechanics will be fleshed out a bit more in future betas.

There are IRL frogs that eat fireflies BTW. If you still won't budge on the fireflies being toxic, I suggest that frogs be bred using Slime Balls. If they eat small slimes, it just makes sense to breed them with Slime Balls.

On the topic of achievements & advancements, these should really be used to teach new players about interesting stuff in Minecraft. Achievements like "star trader" are tedious, pointless, and don't teach anything about the game.

For example, there should be an achievement for putting tadpoles and axolotls on water buckets. Achievements for taming wolves with bones, and cats with fish, should have very clear instructions on how to do it, and should exist in Java version as well. Achievements like making a nether portal should be further clarified, such as needing to use flint & steel. And as mentioned, add achievements for making snow golems and froglights. I've seen too many "blind" Minecraft playthroughs not knowing about these features, as it's too obscure to figure out.

The frogs should be able to eat endermites, silverfish, and baby slimes.

There should be a very rare frog that can eat any mob, or jsut goats. A 1 in a million chance frog.

I'm a biologist and love the frog sounds and animations. Congrats to the devs!

    Some science explanations:

    • Crawling =/= toad. There are big, slow frogs that don't hop everywhere IRL. There's a famous nature documentary clip showing an African bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) protecting its tadpoles and it looks really similar to the chonky Minecraft frogs.
    • White frog = snow frog is a silly idea. Reptiles and amphibians are ectothermic (cold-blooded) and actually tend to be darker further north as it helps them to warm up quickly when they bask. This is well-documented for melanistic (black) morphs of the adder (Vipera berus). The desert frog (based on Chiromantis xerampelina) isn't light for camouflage, it's to reflect the strong sunlight so it doesn't overheat! However, this does make it out-of-place in shady jungles, IMO.
    • Should frogs spawn in cold biomes at all? Maybe not ice spikes, but certainly taiga. The wood frog (Rana sylvatica) lives across Canada and Alaska and can freeze solid without dying because of antifreeze in its blood! The most northerly wild amphibian in the world, Rana amurensis, lives in Siberia. Even the common frog (Rana temporaria) is found as far north as the Arctic Circle. However...all these frogs are brownish. The light/bright green variant does look weird to me in snowy biomes.

I'd keep whitish frog for deserts and savannahs, change jungle frog to orange or green, and make a new darker frog variant for cold biomes so we'd have 4 frog variants total.

Can we add that when zombies get a crossbow they can use the crossbow. It's a small feature I know but it would be cool.

Tadpoles should be able to have up to 3 or 4 in a bucket at a time, for easier transport.

Frogs eating slime shouldn't produce slimeballs, there are much better ways to farm slime already. Instead, it should produce a dim version of the froglights. This will help give hints to players, that they could probably feed frogs magma cubes for the brighter versions.

Frog legs drop for frogs is also welcome as a food source in survival, this'll give frogs an additional use. Tadpoles should spawn on swamp waters! And regarding variants, a bright poison dart frog for jungles is a popular idea.

It would be awesome if the desert variant of a frog was really round and fat and made an “eeek” sound when threatened, like the desert rain frog. It’s a pipe dream, but it would amuse a lot of fans.

I think frogs should be black for cold biomes, like it was in Minecon live. I think the green frogs that are supposed to be used for cold biomes should be used for jungles and similar biomes.

Will there be a way that frog lights will be accessible/obtainable to peaceful players, as we don't have slimes or magma cubes? I was just thinking & concerned about how unattainable blaze rods affect game play for peaceful mode & how that might also happen with frog lights. Without that use and game mechanic being available for peaceful players (if there's no alternative), then reasons for finding and  interacting with frogs in peaceful are diminished, sadly.

Can we make them cuter? Or have a second cuter type? Right now they look more like toads or bullfrogs, which aren’t cute

I suggest being able to catch fireflies in bottles as another form of placeable light decoration, kind of like how you can collect fish and axolotls in buckets. It would be really cool to see something like this!

I'd like to see a bluish/purplish rare frog that you can only get by having a tadpole grow in a mushroom island.

Also you should add poison dart frogs to jungles and have them give you different effects if you hit them (or eat them).
