Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Nether star as powerful light source

My suggestion:

Being able to place a nether star in any enclosed space. If you would place it, it would light up the whole room, no matter how large, but outside it would only work in a 25-block radius. Could be useful for lighting up caves and large builds and such.

It would not be too overpowered, because the crafting recipe is very expensive: just like a beacon crafting recipe, but upside down and netherite blocks or something expensive like that instead of obsidian.

    Or, instead of crafting anything just have the nether star itself able to be placed in the world kind of like the light block. I say this because its more unique than making a lantern or another light source just powered by a nether star and it's also a worthy trade off on its own without any other materials. A nether star for some light seems like its own justification.

    Yeah, the nether star is a crazy item. But it's only for beacons. And maybe like... decoration in an item frame... It feels like a step in a process rather than a crazy, glowing magical object that you get from killing a giant skull monster. So I'd love if it had more options in how it's used.

    I think making a distinction between "outside" and "inside" might be too unintuitive/difficult, but it being a crazy bright light source makes perfect sense.

    You could even go so far as to have to hold the button for a few seconds to place it while it slowly drains your health. It'd make it feel like you're handling a powerful object. That feeling of raw power is honestly what I want the most from the nether star.
