Abandoned nether portals when lit up have a disappointing downside, they just create a new nether portal! My idea is that when you fix an abandoned nether portal it will lead to another one, because that would make sense, right? Assuming whoever created this nether portal went through it, wouldn't they also have stuff on the other side of it?
Simplistically, just generate an abandoned nether portal that is fixed and functions at the corresponding coordinates of the abandoned nether portal in the overworld.
This raises one issue, what about if you go into the nether and find this nether portal completely fixed with loot, and go through it? It can't teleport you to the abandoned nether portal because it is broken down, so I'm unsure on how you should go about it.
But I just think it would be cool if you repair and light up an abandoned nether portal and you are in a little base of the people who once were there, with extra loot because you repaired the portal.
