It seems like players are complaining that Minecraft mobs are too easy. And I think there's no reason why mobs can't adapt to player behavior. Making small changes every update would be too tedious, and players would keep complaining. However, there is still another way out.
How it works:
Each mob will spawn with a slightly different AI from the current one (base AI). The mob will be rewarded points for either dealing damage to or killing a player. Then, the AI of the mob with the highest points will be the mob's new base AI. The process continues, as long as the player has contact with them. Over time, they'll have a sophisticated AI and should be capable of more complex behavior, such as calling for reinforcements, cooperating with other hostile mobs, etc. Not only that, some mobs could have their spawning behavior changed.
How often will the mob's AI update?
On Easy, it updates once a day. On Normal, this happens once every 5 minutes and on Hard, once every spawn cycle (1 game tick.)
What if the player tries to avoid them altogether?
I'd like a minor modification to the game to make beds harder to access or punish oversleeping but I won't talk about it here, but this is needed for this feature to work well. However, one thing I can suggest is to allow certain hostile mobs such as creepers to spawn in broad daylight if players sleep too much.
