Ever since 1.16, the inconsistencies with nether wart/nether wart blocks has always bugged me:
- You use 9 nether wart to make a nether wart block, but that block can't be uncrafted back into 9 nether wart.
- We have nether wart blocks, which can be crafted, but also warped wart blocks, which can't, since warped wart as an item doesn't exist.
- "Nether wart block" is the only inconsistent name between the crimson and warped blocksets. Warped hyphae, crimson hyphae. Warped roots, crimson roots. Warped wart block... nether wart block?
The solution:
- The blocks we currently know of as "Nether Wart Block" and "Warped Wart Block" would be renamed to "Crimson Pileus" and "Warped Pileus" respectively. "Pileus" is what the cap of a mushroom is called so I think it fits (also it sounds funky). Crimson and warped pilei would still keep their current textures and still generate in crimson and warped fungus "trees".
- Nether wart would no longer be able to be crafted into Crimson Pileus (the former Nether Wart Block). Instead, we would get a new block that takes the Nether Wart Block name. Being a proper storage block, it would be able to be crafted back into 9 nether wart. It would have a very bumpy-looking texture, like a bunch of nether warts piled on each other.
