Copper as it is is an annoying ore to me and my friends. We find it too often, it takes up all our coal to smelt, and then we have no clue what to do with it after. I've made a list of ways copper would be more useful and actually introduce some fun game mechanics.
- Copper should replace iron in the recipes for rails. Copper is more prevalent, and one thing that really discourages me from making more rails is how much iron they use up. I'd rather keep my iron for more useful projects.
- Copper should be able to be made into tools and armor, but carry an increased risk of being struck by lightning when held or equipped. This partners in with the already implemented lightning rod, and can provide early-game armor that doesn't eat up iron or leather with the added gamble of risk of death.
- Copper could be used to make underwater equipment. This will be extremely helpful for exploring now prevalent underwater caves, and the variety of underwater structures. It would make exploring these things fun, rather than a hassle.
