As of the 1.18 update, the height and depth of the world has increased, taking longer to go from bedrock level to surface, or from the base of a mountain to peak. Ladders, staircases, and powered rails all take frustratingly long to move vertically in the world. While soulsand elevators are fast, they need access to the Nether.
To amend this, copper minecarts & copper tracks! Placed on the sides of blocks, copper minecart tracks allow for fast vertical movement, allowing the player to move up and down quickly as freefall, but in a controlled manner, and horizontal along wall faces, albeit slower than an iron minecart. The copper minecart would stay in place without player input. To move, the player would hold the jump button to move up, moving slowly at first & quickly gaining momentum, and hold the crouch button to move down, or left and right with the regular movement keys as long as there is copper rail to support it.
Powered copper rails would become a "one-way" - either up or down, or left or right. The powered copper rail signal would power 7 rails in every direction. Placing the powered copper rail on the appropriate "half" of the block face would choose its direction, kind of like the placement of stairs - a powered copper rail placed on the top half of a block face would move up.
These minecart tracks would have all the regular minecart and track versions, like furnaces and hopper and chest carts, and powered and pressure plate rails.
