This is a concept I thought of while playing recently, and that is certain areas or biomes would have a cold factor... for example, snow/ice biomes. The player would also have a cold stat (frostbite), similar to the hunger and health stat. If the cold stat is maxed out, the player gets damaged until they die.
The player can protect themselves with armor (leather armor is the best protection against the cold, and iron/diamond is the worse) and by standing near a heat source (campfire, furnace, or inside a structure). Getting wet in a cold area (swimming or rain) would speed up the frostbite effect.
Some new items that could be introduced are:
- Hot beverage: coffee beans and water, heated on a campfire, could make a hot coffee drink which would instantly reduce the reduce the cold stat
- Wool + leather armor could make insulated armor, which would stop the cold stat from increasing unless the player got wet, but would increase at a reduced rate)
