With the swamp being revamped, I do think that It would be a rather interesting occurrence If we saw a special kind of mushroom to give it a sense of danger... one that is beautiful, yet deadly... or perhaps useful(?)
The Death cap mushroom could be a pure white mushroom that is slightly taller than other overworld mushrooms, and could be placed in a group of up to 5, similar to sea pickles, and would essentially function by poisoning the player if they ate one from their inventory or if they got too close while bunched up. the Minimum for the death cap to claim the area poisonous would be 3 when getting close, with the radius being 1 block close, all the way to a 3 block radius at 5 Death caps.
If you add a Death cap to a mushroom stew, you can turn the said stew into a suspicious stew, which can cause Nausea and lethal poison for 20 seconds upon consumption. What makes it deadlier is that the death cap can also be combined with a Twisted or crimson fungi to make a "deadly mushroom", which can be thrown to emit a 4x4 poison cloud, although the throwing range would be rather small, a 8 block distance at best.
By adding the Death cap mushroom, Mojang is adding a new environmental hazard that players could avoid as a "vile corruption" or take advantage of, and it would also make sense considering that the death cap is a non-native mushroom in the Bergen Swamp.
