Repairing Tridents - Copper and the Guardians' Quasilore

There's a lot of quasilore about the origins of guardians and other ocean-related creations. The guardians are believed to be golems or sorts. Their skin resembles the blocks that make their home. As for the trident, they felt too alien to be related to one another, that was, until the addition of copper.

I want to suggest a way to repair tridents; I thought about their relation to copper (Specifically lightning) and realised that their greenish-blue texture could actually be rusted copper. While that's all fine and dandy, I needed a good way of farming the repairable material without safely going into caves and mining some. I then thought of the orange spikes coming from guardians. They look very similar to copper, don't they? It's also interesting to note that all guardians' main form of attack is a sort of electrical beam.

We could say in the sense of quasilore that the guardians' ageless bodies keep the copper spikes intact. The second they're dropped, however, they're fully rusted. This allows the rods to have a special source and make sense when used to repair a trident. This also gives another use to ocean monuments. I'm an advocate for retrospective.
