Tool durability buff/nerf

so, I came up with a idea, what if instead of tool's losing durability once for each block they break it could be time based? say for instance mining obsidian take's 9 second's, so it should lose 9 durability. one each second, or mining netherack may take half a second, so then it would lose half a durability point, meaning you lose 1 durability after you break 2? another thing that could be done with this is make it so if 2 player's are breaking the same block, it break's at double the speed, but since now the durability is based off how long it is taking to break a block, if 2 player's where mining obsidian that would take 4.5 durability from each player and 4.5 seconds to break it 

just a idea I came up with, with a friend :)        (sorry about bad spelling)

    This is too complicated and would be extremely annoying, since the only way by obtaining obsidian is by Diamond and Netherite packages, which still require time even with Efficiency 5
