Saw a post on her suggestion shooting stars, and that made me think about the wild update.
I think a lot of us are hoping for the wild update to impact every biome, even the oceans, so I thought that it would be cool to make the sky more immersive and also have an effect on our gameplay. In extension to shooting stars, I think that meteors would have a great aesthetic and immersive effect. Imagine the beauty of seeing a big burning object fallen through the sky. As to how it would impact the gameplay, I believe that players should be able to track the falling object and find the crater and remains of the meteor upon impact. It would be cool if the meteor had some unique stuff to it, that could only be obtained from it.
I know that Mojang is not fond of events that change or destroys a part of your world, but the chance of your builds getting destroyed by a meteor could be prevented if the meteor could only crash upon chunks that just has been or has not been rendered yet. That way the game would reward a player to go explore the world, with a random, immersive and beneficial event. And is it not that what the wild update is about?
