The Aquatic Update was an amazing update and I think it did a wonderful job revamping the ocean, but there is still a lot of missed potential with it. For example, now that the 1.17 / 1.18 is expanding the world height and depth, the ocean can be made deeper without going so far down it touches bedrock. Even with the Deep Ocean biome, I still find that oceans lack the feeling of depth that real oceans have, especially since rivers are also getting bigger and deeper, it makes the ocean feel less and less grand. I think that there are three possible solutions to this, one is to make the Deep Ocean biome be able to generate deeper down, it doesn't have to be a lot, anywhere from 10-20 blocks deeper would make it feel like an actual deep ocean. Another possible solution is to add another biome entirely, maybe like a Deep Dark Ocean or the Abyssal Ocean that can generate near or in deep ocean biomes and extend the depth of the ocean another 20-30 blocks and maybe less fish will spawn there and it can spawn glow squid to show just how deep you are. The third solution is to allow deep trenches / ravines and large holes or caves to generate in deep oceans, these would connect to cave systems allowing glow squid to spawn in the depths of the ocean, as well as making a lot of sense, as trenches and deep sea caves systems or formations usually make up some of the deepest places on Earth, I also think that is any of these were done, more magma blocks should also generate in deeper areas.
