Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Add a Depth Sensor block.

The recipe would use Copper and Redstone.

 

When placed in the Overworld (The Depth Sensor is not a handheld device), the Depth Sensor has a crystal that glows one of several colors based on its Y-coordinate, roughly based on ore depths. The Depth Sensor would require an Iron Pick to mine and pick up.

 

Emerald Green: y > +96

Coal Black: +96 >= y > +48

Iron Gray: +48 >= y > +30

Amethyst Purple: +30 >= y > +16

Diamond Blue: +16 >= y > +0

Lapis Lazuli Blue: +0 >= y > -16

Golden Yellow: -16 >= y > -32

Redstone Red: -32 >= y > ???

Deep Dark Purple: ??? >= y > -63

 

Or maybe the Depth Sensor breaks in the presence of a Warden, or when a Skulk Shrieker goes off? If it is part of a Redstone circuit this could be a way to detect a shrieker activating?
