Copper, although a useful building block, is quite useless when it comes to practical value. So far, the lightning rod is the only functional way this new ore can be used, which is disappointing.
I’m here to propose a solution to this problem.
Copper armour would be pointless, as iron is fairly easy to obtain early-game, so what about using copper to engrave other tools or armour instead? This could be done via a crafting table or perhaps a specialised work station. Similar to banner patterns, there could be different types of engravings available, such as a flower, creeper head, or even the Mojang symbol.
As well as this, maybe emeralds would be able to be studded into tools? This would just add a function to them and inspire players to take more interest in mining or trading for them.
Also, they would look pretty cool.
