With the recent news of the swamps being updated, I've decided I'd like to see Peat come to Minecraft as a resource that can be used as both a new fuel source and a way to raise awareness about Carbon Sinks (Places that absorb carbon efficiently, with Peat Swamps being the most efficient Carbon Sinks).
Here are the reasons why I think Peat could be useful:
. Can be used as an early game fuel source, as it could be gathered by hand (so long as you spawn in an area where peat can be found)
. Can be used to raise awareness of Carbon Sinks and why we need them to avert Climate Change as Peat Swamps are the best Carbon Sinks we have in the natural world
The idea of Peat Swamps is optional, as Peat could just as easily be added to the already existing Swamps. However if they were added, they would be a new Tropical Biome to spice things up a bit, and could also introduce Lotuses, which can be found in Peat Swamps, and would allow for players to spice up their ponds as well!
As to how the player would go about creating Peat if they aren't located anywhere near a Swamp/Peat Swamp, I think that the player should be able to place Moss into water, and after a short amount of time, the moss turns into Peat Block, which can then be broken down into Peat. This would also give Moss an additional use.
