If the Nether has a cave structure with not only a floor but also a ceiling, with different platform layers that could be made better with a taller Nether, there could be Nether Fungi that grow upside down from the ceilings, they could still be Crimson and Warped fungi, their saplings would be placeable under blocks, turning the block texture upside down.
To go along with that, the Nether Nylium blocks could also be placeable under blocks, flipping the block model upside down and only turning into Netherrack if the block below is shading them. Of course, also naturally generating Nylium in the ceilings.
Not every ceiling needs to have fungi and Nylium, but this could be an option.
