If the weather is a "thunderstorm" then a duststorm will appear in the desert biome, likewise, blizzards will appear in the cold biomes. Dustorms will reduce visibility and slow the player slightly, whilst blizzards will cause freezing damage if the player is in contact with the weather for a certain period of time (freezing damage will be negated if the player is wearing a full set of leather armor; slowness from the duststorms will be negated if the player is wearing a full set of any armor ("any armor" can be different armor pieces, players just have to have an armor piece in all of their armor slots. Chainmail won't work - players will still get the slowness effect if wearing chainmail armor). Additionally, if a cauldron is set outside during a blizzard, powered snow would collect in it at fast rates. Also, during these weather events, husks and strays will spawn in abundance (husks in duststorms and strays in blizzards).
These variables will depend on the difficulty the world is set to. For example, if the world's difficulty is set to easy then fewer mobs would spawn during the weather events and the effects of the weather events would be reduced.
