The enchanting mechanic as it is right now is pretty simple, you get the best enchantments and thats about it, so how do we make it more interesting
Have every enchanted item have an asociated glint color*, one of the 16 minecraft colors, and make it so that when you combine two enchanted items (armor+armor, pickaxe+pickaxe, sword+book... any combination) the two colors combine much like with colored leather armor, so if you combine protection IV pants that have a black glint with an umbreaking book that has a white glint, the result will be a grey glint.
Advantages:
> When showing off armor/tools in an advanced world, it wont just be the same set everyone has, you can have it be a specific color (say all red, or even harder, all dark red) and that proves that you actually spent the time to get every single red item, this makes enchanting much more challenging and your set much more special but just if you want, its voluntary
> This makes item more personalized, as the chance of people having the same colors on their tools is nearly 0, just by mixing two items you get 256 possible colors of glint
> This is a cool tool for mapmaking, as it helps make the items more unique, the exact color of the glint can be specified with commands much like with leather armor
You can also have the colored glint be rare (only 1/3 enchantments gets a color) so that its even more challenging to make a cool looking set of armor and weapons
*The same enchantment can have different glints, its unrelated
