More levels of blue ice

Yes, boats on blue ice travel extremely fast. But what if you could turn it up a notch? My suggestion is that you can 9 blue ice into a level 2 blue ice, craft 9 again to get level 3, etc. This would be stored in the NBT data and each time it would multiply the speed on the ice. This is not overpowered as it would cost A LOT (1 blue ice = 9x9 = 81 ice, x9 again and you get 729 ice blocks just for 1 level two blue ice block.) This is just a suggestion, please expand if you want on this idea in the comments.
