Hello! First of all, i'm sorry if i put this in the wrong topic, not really sure where it would go lol
Well, with the Caves and Cliffs update the overall feel of the game will change a lot. We'll see lots of interesting and awesome scenes and terrain, and with that the game will feel a lot more beautifull.
One thing that other games have(Not all of them, of course) is a way to render textures and models based on proximity, the further the object is the lower the quality and so on. I think this game would feel even more amazing even if this rendering mechanic was only an optional setting.
The current render distance mechanic is not bad, by any means, but i think it could be a cool different approach. Maybe the current "render distance" could be used to define the "closer" distance in this LoD thing i mentioned above, and beyond that it be simply shapes and colors up to x chunks.
I don't know how difficult it would be to add to the game, but it is be a cool idea. I think it is at least.
