As tuff is a natural way to use carbon dating in real life, I do believe that some type of volcanic structure could come to showcase the volcano-inspired rocks in our worlds. To add upon this carbon dating, in order to implement, there are several ways (feel free to change, or do your own version of course):
- Within the crafting recipes of 1.17 newshutff, add a new item to be crafted to "discover" the insides(overall archeology was something the community loves very much)
- over a very very long period of time have the age state change, but the visual only change on one side of the block, so where, when powered or "read" by redstone, it has varying levels of redstone output depending on the level
- Gift a function of tuff to buildings perhaps, because in real life they are often used in building
All of this goes to say, I do think that it should be more appealing to build with in one way or another, because malleability is definitely something that should be looked into more in minecraft(for example fusing maybe into a crafted wall)
on another note, the core engine is still a lot of items so having more ways to sort would be something good to tie with, like:
- placing items into stone(similar to item-frames)
- Creating your own blocks (similar to crafting grid, but all the items turn into one colourful block). this is my favourite idea since I was a child thinking about minecraft
- and/or carbon being integral to an item's value, thus being able to see EVERY block or item's value
