In someways I feel like you should have to defeat the Overworld, Nether, and a possible Aether like dimension bosses/structures before you can go to the End (Something similar to the End Remastered Mod). For example instead of changing the ender eyes, you need artefacts as keys to open the stronghold or some sort of progression system where you have to go to structures in a certain order and you can't continue without doing that, great for the adventure aspect of the game!
But I am aware that this would change how speed running works, so there could be an option to disable this feature when creating a world or something.
