Hey! Semi-Regularly, even whilst i am playing in loaded chunks on a single player world i find that the game will lag in an unusual way:
It causes the player to move and attempt to break blocks & interact with things normally (which makes it very difficult to know the exact point in which this type of lag starts), however, the behavior of mobs, opening of UIs (eg. In game pause Menu, Furnaces, chests, etc), Block placement / Block Removal, redstone interactions and all audio cues will all Freeze or lag for a certain period of time. The game will still remember and calculate the world's behavior during this freeze time, which then when the lag stops; all actions are let loose at once.
This "Game Time Lag" is especially punishing during the night, where at once you might think you are safe from mobs, only to then have all the mobs targeting you to almost teleport in your face and attack at once (Also creeper's may explode instantly if freezing is long enough).
As you could imagine, this issue has ended some of my Hardcore runs unfortunately. :(
This form of lag has been in the game for a few updates now, both in single player and multiplayer.
