Could limiting where y drops below 0, potentially increase performance?
An example, the bedrock layer has more of a wavy plane where some of it drops as low as -128 but others at 5 or 6.
If that works, you could even generate hidden cave areas that have a layer of bedrock between itself the rest of the world above.
It could make places like the deepslate caves and the deep dark more rewarding to find since a player wouldn’t be able to simply dig straight down then pick a horizontal direction.
