Hello all! In this post, I'll be presenting my ideas on a new metal from the darkest depths of the Overworld : Tantalum!
What is tantalum?
Tantalum would be a new grayish-turquoise metal found in the upcoming deep dark biome, either in chests throughout the deep dark or found in the form of tantalum remnants embedded in ruins which would litter the biome, wich could be refined into tantalum ingots.
What would it be used for?
I imagine tantalum as a netherite sidegrade, being made by upgrading diamond armor with a tantalum ingot. The tools would deal +75% critical damage, yet there more to this set than meets the eye.
Shards of warding
If a player is wearing 3 or 4 pieces of tantalum armor, after hitting an enemy a few times, a shard of warding would appear near the player. Under normal circumstances, the shard would follow the player by hovering slightly above the ground and would shatter after a few seconds, yet, if the player is hit while they have one or multiple shards, the shard(s) would start spinning and, after a few seconds, it would charge the attacker, dealing 5 hearts of damage and ignoring 40% of the enemy's armor enchantments on hit.
Why would this be useful?
This set would, in my opinion, not only adds new reasons to delve into the depths but also new strategies in combat situations, adding more diversity into the armor meta.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading! Any feedback is appreciated of course.
