A dedicated offhand button in mobile that appears when you have something equipped i.e a shield which can be used to one tap block instead of the double tap to crouch block. Shields were designed with 1 click block and with the current feature it is very difficult to time against attacks so what most players tend to do is just crouch and slowly move towards the skeleton or entity shooting the projectiles in order to close the distance. The same concept could be applied to fireworks when flying, just press a button to launch one and you're good to go. When using split controls, this feature also opens up the use of offhand torches/placing blocks where you can just press the button in order to place a torch or block. Offhand tools could also work by long pressing the button to break a block. It might be hard to look and mine depending on where the button is located, but that would be up to the player if ever button mapping gets implemented. This idea would work well when stripmining as you usually move in one direction and is certainly better than constantly switching between a pickaxe and a shovel
